A Nintendo eShop card is prepaid store credit. Once you redeem it, the balance sits on your Nintendo account and can be spent on almost anything sold through the Nintendo eShop. Here's what that covers.
What you can buy
Full digital games — first-party Nintendo titles, big third-party releases, and indies, downloaded straight to your Switch.
DLC and add-on content — expansion passes, extra characters, courses, and cosmetic packs.
In-game currency — V-Bucks, and other in-game currency packs sold through the eShop.
Pre-orders — reserve upcoming games so they pre-load and unlock at launch.
Nintendo Switch Online — pay for an individual or family Switch Online membership (and the Expansion Pack tier) right out of your balance.
Apps and demos-to-full upgrades — supported eShop apps and paid upgrades.
What it can't do
Physical products — eShop funds are for digital content only, not consoles or boxed games.
Cash out — the balance can't be transferred back to cash or to another account.
Cross-region purchases — a US card adds USD to a US account and buys from the US eShop. See our region & compatibility guide.
Mix and match denominations
Your eShop balance combines, so you can stack cards to reach the exact total you need. Grabbing a $60 game? A $50 and a $20 eShop card cover it with a little left over for DLC. Funds never expire, so leftover credit is always waiting for your next purchase.
